Interesting comment on a Telegraph blog about Barack Obama ;
Barack Hussein Obama was a member, for 20 years, of Trinity United Church of Christ. Indeed, he states in his book, which takes its title from a sermon by Reverend Wright, that it was in this 'church' that he 'became' a Christian.
On the website of Trinity United Church, which I looked over, on all its pages, in February 2007, it stated that "The Vision Statement of Trinity is based upon the systematized Liberation Theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr James H Cone's book, Black Power and Black Theology."
In his book, Cone states: "What we need is the Divine Love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love...Black Theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy."
Is this creed of racial hatred the substantial 'change' which Miss Shriver imagines will transform America if Obama is elected President?

ReplyDeleteFormer Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter were Southern Baptists, a denomination founded on the principles of racism. The SBC did not formally renounce its racist roots until 1995 after Carter's and during Clinton's terms. The racism of their denominations did not influence their actions so I don't expect BLT to influence Obama if he's elected. There are plenty of warped teachings that infest Christian circles, black liberation theology isn't the first nor is it the last of those warped teachings.
ReplyDeleteLormarie,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are right. Anyones whose christianity is based on destroying the 'white enemy' and who is half white temselves, has serious issues.
That sort of insanity is unfitting for a man with his finger on the nuclear button.
The fact he wants to kill his white half and joins a church based on that - means the guy has serious issues that need to be resolved before he can be trusted with power.
Obama subjected himself to twenty of 20 years nodding, agreeing, and applauding to black liberation theology under Reverend Wright. A 20 minute disassociation speech means next to nothing compared to that. Rev Wright's spiritual father James Cone penned and taught the following:
ReplyDelete"Black Theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we better kill him... The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in black power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal... unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love." James cone Ph.D. "Black Power and Black Theology"..
We believed we had a responsibility to advocate not voting for anyone that spent 20 years under the spiritual direction of men whom chose this philosophy as their religion.
But now he is the President.
