Tories Do A Thatcher

So you voted Tory did you.

Well not only will you lose your job, but now the Tories are going to do a Thatcher and allow immigrants to come in and take British jobs whilst sacking hundreds of thousands of British workers.

2010 is 1979 all over again.

The Prime Minister promised business leaders, who have been voicing alarm over tough restrictions, that they would not be stopped from bringing the ''best talent'' to Britain.

''As we control our borders and bring immigration to a manageable level, we will not impede you from attracting the best talent from around the world,'' he told the CBI conference in central London.

Concerns have been raised that the Government's interim cap, introduced in July, is already hurting British businesses and scientific research capability.

Oil executives, law firms and cancer charities are among those to have warned that they are being prevented from employing enough skilled workers from outside the EU, with complaints that quotas are ''arbitrary''.

City firms have been lobbying particularly hard for more flexibility when the permanent system comes into force next spring.

And Business Secretary Vince Cable clashed with Downing Street when he appeared to take issue with Government policy, calling for the cap to be "flexible".

The Prime Minister's spokesman accepted that business had been ''talking'' about the issues. But he stressed that Mr Cameron's pledge this morning did not signal a ''rethink'', because final decisions on the level and shape of the limits had yet to be taken.

''It is not a rethink, because the position at the present time is that we have got a temporary cap which runs until next spring, and we are consulting on a cap for future years,'' the spokesman added.

''We will be looking obviously at the level of that cap and at the way in which it operates and making sure that works in a way that allows business to bring the people that they need into the UK.''
