Work experience at the Foreign Office? Not if you’re a middle class white male



William Hague was last night plunged into a row over new ­Foreign Office rules which ban white males from gaining work experience at his department.

The Foreign Secretary was challenged to explain why his ­official work placement schemes specifically ban white, middle-class males from applying for the £367-a-week positions.

Under the tightly-drawn rules, only women, people from ethnic ­minorities and the ­disabled are ­entitled to apply for a chance to work at one of the great offices of state.

The placements give students a head start in the battle to win ­coveted jobs in the diplomatic service and possibly rise through the ranks to become an ambassador. Only one category of non-minority male applicants stand a chance – those whose families are poor enough to entitle them to qualify for a full student maintenance grant.

The bizarre ‘middle-class male’ ban came to light after Tory MP Dominic Raab was contacted by an irate ­constituent who tried to obtain work experience at the department.

Esher MP Mr Raab, an ­international lawyer who worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) for six years, said last night: ‘I am raising this issue on behalf of a ­disappointed constituent barred from even applying for Foreign Office work experience because he did not fit the social quota criteria.

‘We surely need to scale back the unfair political correctness of the last Government. But we will not end discrimination in our society by introducing it through the back door, which is what positive discrimination like this does.’

Mr Raab has now written to Mr Hague asking him to intervene and review the work placement rules.

The Foreign Office, which employs 20,000 staff in the UK and around the world, operates three work ­placement schemes:

* A summer development programme open to ‘talented individuals’ from black or ethnic minority backgrounds;
* A summer placement scheme for ‘talented students’ with a registered disability; and
* A university placement scheme open to female students, students from an ethnic minority background and students who come from a household with an income of £25,000 or lower.

Westminster sources last night said the programmes came about after Robin Cook, the former Labour Foreign Secretary, arrived at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s headquarters in Whitehall and was horrified to see so many former public schoolboys working there.

Last night, the FCO insisted the schemes were legal and were designed to appeal to students who might not normally consider a career in the FCO.


A spokeswoman said: ‘This includes students from an ethnic minority background and those with a disability, as well as ­students who are in receipt of a full maintenance grant.’

The spokeswoman added: ‘People from these backgrounds are currently under-represented in the FCO.

'We believe that by having a more diverse and multicultural workforce the FCO is better able to represent British interests around the world.’

There was ‘absolutely no discrimination’ in the department’s normal job recruitment process, she insisted.

But in a later statement, the FCO said the work experience schemes would now ‘be placed under review’.

The campaign of the tawdry and pathetic Tory front group, Nothing British About the BNP, which was set up with Lord Ashcrofts money and used the military connections of Baron Bethells late father as a way to attack the BNP, was a total waste of time.

Not only that, they attacked the wrong target.

The aim of Nothing British About the BNP was to attack the BNP from the right in order to assist the Tories by ensuring disgruntled right leaning voters did not vote BNP.

Whilst Searchlight and the Trade Unions attacked the BNP from the Left, the Corporate Media attacked the BNP in their papers, the idiots in frocks in the churches stopped the BNP attending hustings to reach the public directly - the aim of Nothing British was to attack the BNP from the right.

They thought that by completely encircling the BNP they would be able to nullify our support.

But all the time Baron Bethell and his cabal of fops, Zionists and whoremongers in the Nothing British Bullingdon Club were attacking the BNP, they were missing the real electoral threat to the Tories which was UKIP.

The tiny UK Independence Party helped deprive the Conservatives of at least ten seats by fielding candidates in constituencies the Tories had a good chance of winning.

Nationally, UKIP picked up just 3 per cent of the vote. But in a string of seats their support was enough to stop even Eurosceptic Tory candidates winning.

In the most glaring example, the anti-EU party helped oust the fiercely Eurosceptic David Heathcoat-Amory in Wells, Somerset.

UKIP picked up 1,711 votes as the Tory MP lost to the Liberal Democrats by 800.

UKIP also helped to prop up a number of Labour ministers, including Schools Secretary Ed Balls, Communities Secretary John Denham, immigration minister Phil Woolas and local government minister Ian Austin.

In each case the ministers would have lost their seats if the bulk of UKIP's support had gone to the Conservative candidate.

Mr Austin, a close ally of Gordon Brown, held Dudley North with a majority of just 649 over the Conservatives, while UKIP picked up 3,267 votes.

The UKIP effect was particularly noticeable in the West Country, where there has long been a strong Eurosceptic sentiment.

As well as Wells, the Lib Dems won in St Ives, Somerton and Frome and St Austell and Newquay after narrowly holding off Conservative candidates with the help of UKIP.





So we can see that the Bungling Baron and his fops in Nothing British were aiming their potato guns at the wrong target all along.

So we in the BNP would like to thank Baron Bethell and his fops for ensuring that the Tories did not win the election.

If Nothing British had targeted UKIP instead of the BNP, then we would be saddled with a Tory government right now.

If the Baron and his chum Maurice Cousins had bothered to think for themselves, they would have realised that by aligning themselves with the Far Left and attacking the BNP, whilst ignoring UKIP, they were merely assisting the Tories losing the election - for if the Tories had campaigned against UKIP instead of the BNP, then the Cameron Conservatives would be in power right now.

No wonder Lancaster Unity and Harrys Place were so keen for Nothing British to work with them, for as long as Nothing British targeted the BNP - and left UKIP alone - the more certain it was that the Tories would lose the election.

The ONLY party that benefited from Nothing British attacking the BNP, and not attacking UKIP, was the Labour Party.

By attacking the BNP, and thereby ensuring disgruntled Tories and protest voters all voted UKIP, what The Blue Baron did was ensure that the UKIP VOTE WENT UP, thereby ensuring that UKIP candidates would gain a good vote and undercut the Tory vote.

Perhaps the Baron should have asked his butler to ponder the question,'Where will the protest vote, disgruntled tories and white working class voters put off the BNP go and put there vote if we attack the BNP ?'.

Perhaps the butler was too busy wiping the Barons bum or tying his shoelaces for him to ponder the question.

One would have thought that the retired Generals, ex-soldiers and other peerage chasing idiots they wheeled out for the cameras to attack the BNP would have had the brains and strategic insight to point this out to them - but it appears that our generals are as stupid as our politicians when it comes to strategy and tactics.

(3) * Pull out of our commitments to NATO.

A young Tory has been jailed for six months after he admitted downloading sickening child porn.

Alister Cooling, 27, who writes for the Conservative Home website and campaigned for London Mayor Boris Johnson, owned films featuring girls as young as five being abused.

The pervert, who hoped to be an MP and featured on the BBC reality TV show Castaway, also downloaded a bestiality film.

Some of the films hit the highest level of the abuse scale used by police to grade child porn.

Sentencing Cooling at Croydon crown court last Friday, Judge Stephen Waller said: "The contents of these images are horrifying. Any right thinking person could not but be repulsed. By downloading this material you give encouragement to people who are filming the abuse and suffering of children."

Cooling at first told police he downloaded the films by accident - but eventually broke down and admitted he was "obsessed". The charges against him included making indecent images and possession of extreme porn. He will serve half his sentence in jail then be freed on licence.

Cooling, who was pictured on a Gay Pride march with Mr Johnson last year, was a committee member of the Lesbian Gay and Bi Tory group. On Castaway two years ago, Cooling, of Croydon, South London, was described as the "ultimate coach potato" and said he would miss his computer most while on the island.

A website Cooling used to bid for acting roles lists his friends as his "TV, computer and hi-fi" and gives his influences as television shows Buffy and Angel.
