Twenty-four people suspected of being held against their will have been found during a raid at a travellers' site in Bedfordshire, police said.
Four people were arrested on suspicion of taking part in slavery after the raid on a site near Leighton Buzzard early on Sunday, officers said.
The 24 men, who are English, Polish and Romanian, were being held in squalid conditions, they added.
The men are now being cared for by the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
